Fairwater, (Federation Arts and Crafts)the Fairfax family’s two-storey waterfront home (circa 1881) on the shores of Seven Shillings Beach (at Point Piper) has been in the family for more than 100 years and that property is considered Sydney’s best.

The mainland Chinese buyer flew into Melbourne September 2013 on their private jet to put the signature on the contract.
While the sale price has not been disclosed, the agency suggests the sale was “circa $20 million.

The **Hermitage** estate at Vaucluse, (Gothic Revival)* seriously damaged by a fire in 1936, was restored by Emil Sodersten

  • Originally home of John and Merivale Hemmes, valued at $50m.
  • JUSTIN Hemmes has taken over the reigns at iconic Sydney property, Hermitage.
  • His parents, John and Merivale, have moved out of the heritage-listed waterfront Vaucluse estate they’ve called home since 1974[1]

Eulinya’s well-preserved Federation Arts and Crafts-style house and gardens (48-50 Irving Road, Toorak, designed by Walter Butler) makes it one of the most historically and architecturally significant properties in Toorak.
Mr Lindsay Fox (also owner of Boomerang, Elizabeth Bay NSW) has owned the Irving Road property since the late 1970s. Estate agents estimate it is worth about $13 million.[2]

Sold on Monday 10-Nov-2015 for more than $30.8 million, setting a suburb record in the process. Settlement was delayed a year.

The owner, entrepreneur Adam Garrisson, bought the Queen Anne-style mansion in 2009 in a derelict condition from the state government for considerably less than the original 2008 $8 million asking price, but industry sources said he’d spent more than double what he paid on restorations.

  • The Ginahgulla Road house, set on a 3300 square metre block with lawn tennis court and pool, was built in 1885 for Charles B. Fairfax, the grandson of Herald founder John Fairfax.
  • Caerleon, which was designed in London by Maurice Adams, is the earliest example of Federation Queen Anne in Sydney.

Anti-development advocates warn that Watson, who controversially demolished the Lisieux mansion at No. 63 to build a house in ’98, could demolish the 108-year old Coomaroo and build a $30 million mega-mansion. (Coomaroo since landscaped)
